The Ministry of Tourism is looking into providing special fuel passes for tourists visiting Sri Lanka, Minister Harin Fernando said.
Addressing an event, the Tourism Minister said many complaints have been received from tourists pertaining to the shortage of fuel.
A meeting has been arranged with Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera to address the matter, he said.
Minister Harin Fernando said the possibility of providing a special fuel pass for tourists upon arrival at the airport is being considered.
“We are looking at introducing the purchasing of fuel passes at the airport by tourists upon their arrival in Sri Lanka. The payment will be required to be made in Dollars, while the fuel pass will be operated under the top-up system,” he explained.
The Tourism Minister further said that every fuel station will also have an allocated pump as a priority for these tourist fuel passes.
